We have been very pleased with this product to date. Especially impressed with the interior design that has increased storage capacity from previous 30 inch refrigerators and provided thoughtful storage options. The newer features , including interior filtered water dispenser and built-in icemaker as well as filters for food freshness have proved to be quite beneficial. In terms of overall appearance (exterior) and presentation, we believe that all the door/drawer handles would look much better in black tone rather than chrome. The chrome detracts somewhat from its sleek black look.

From the moment we had the unit installed, there was a sound that was not defined in the Kitchen Aid Troubleshooting section. We had the local Kitchen Aid serviceman come around. He replaced the Damper Unit. However, within a short time, the noise returned. Again, we had the serviceman around and, again, he replaced the damper unit. We still have the noise. Is that to be expected with this refrigerator model or should it run silently? Everythng else about the unit is good; looks nice and refrigerates and freezes quite well. It seems a bit noisy.

Overall nice fridge for the size. Not crazy about the white feet and there is no cover at the bottom. For the money I feel it should have a cover at the bottom. Most of the others do.

Be Warned: FALSE ADVERTISING on this model

Be Warned: A warning to all those looking at possibly buying this fridge: There is a feature they are advertising on this model's webpage that does NOT exist with this model. They call the feature: "FRESHCHILL TEMPERATURE-CONTROLLED FULL-WIDTH PANTRY". What this is referring to is the long width drawer inside the fridge (the drawer directly underneath the two crisper drawers). In reality, this drawer has a large permanent hole for air to constantly pass through and has no individual temperature control, as the advertising suggests. Just look closely as the interior photos of the fridge and you will see what I am talking about. Again, this feature does NOT exist with this model. This is false advertising. Also, to clarify their advertising of the "PRODUCE PRESERVER" feature. The fridge does NOT come with a "Produce Preserver" product (although you can buy one separately) nor do either of the crisper drawer interiors have a part where a "Produce Preserver" can be attached to (it is shown as ATTACHED to a crisper drawer in the marketing photo on this model's webpage). See, I used to have another KitchenAid fridge that had a part on the vertical side of the crisper drawer specifically to attach a "Produce Preserver" onto. It's sort of like a notched part on the vertical side of the drawer that the "Produce Preserver" hooks onto. And this fridge model does NOT have that part to hook a "Produce Preserver" onto. Thus, if you want to use a "Produce Preserver", you will just have to place one inside the drawer and it will just sit loosely at the bottom of the drawer and in the way of your produce.

We replaced a 20 year old fridge with this, so it takes getting used to. We love the freezer on the bottom! The refrigerator is nice and deep (front to back), so it stores quite a bit for a smaller size. The arrangement of shelves that can slide back to allow for milk jugs is a good feature. For some reason, our lettuce doesn't stay fresh as well...

This refrigerator is pretty much the only game in town if you want black stainless in a 30-inch size. There is a surprising amount of room inside and the lighting is very bright. With the clear drawers, everything is visible. The inside water dispenser is handy but does not come out very cold. This is the only piece of the KitchenAid Black Stainless suite I can't give 5 stars. When it was unwrapped at the house, there was unsightly foam insulation leaking from the top left door due to a large gap at the seam. Fortunately, the door was replaced under warranty. The other door has noticeable distortion around the upper corner. The refrigerator doesn't seem to have the level of build quality as the rest of the appliances.

Unit was purchased and installed about nine months ago as of the writing of this review. This suites our lifestyle. Love the room in the refrigerator gained by not having a through the door ice and water dispenser. Although having an interior cold-water dispenser is not ideal. It is operated with the use of one hand. Again, inside the left door has great storage space that refrigerators with through the door dispensers do not have. The door shelves have removeable gray plastic liners that are dishwasher safe. The interior shelves are easily adjusted. Love the shelves that slide into half making room for tall items. Freezer is well lit and spacious. This is my first french door refrigerator. Use to just swinging doors close and walking away. The left side door has to be pushed into closed position so it took a while to close doors properly with out having to think. One time the freezer was left ajar. Upon opening the refrigerator the interior lights did not come on. There was a red symbol on the control panel. It took a moment to figure out the problem. When the freezer was properly closed, the red symbol disappeared and the interior lights once again worked properly. About a month after this was installed, house electrical system was upgraded and was rewired. Work took about ten hours. I want you to know that although refrigerator was not opened during this extended time with no power. Ice was still perfectly frozen and worries about spoiled food were unfounded.

I purchased four new appliances, all KitchenAid brands, which were delivered in September. I went with KitchenAid because my last dishwasher and range were KitchenAid products and my appliances were all 24 years old. They were still working when I got my new ones. I like my other new appliances but do not like the refrigerator at all. Since it was a special size because of the limited space I had for a refrigerator, I never got to see it, only saw a picture of it which wasn't helpful at all. I have had the service people out here three times in less than two months to fix problems with it. The drawer doesn't stay closed inside which was looked at by two different people and it still isn't right. It keeps popping open because accordingly to the service man, its the way its made in the back that forces it to pop open. The dividers that fold down for taller items is worthless. When they are down, it takes up room on the shelf beneath it and its impossible to get anything to high to fit on that shelf. One of the shelves has the drop-down the whole length of the shelf and the other one is a partial drop-down. This one is much worse because with it being a partial drop-down, the divider in the middle takes up even more room and the middle of the shelf for storing items is pretty much worthless for anything. I did call KitchenAid on this and requested whole complete shelves without any drop downs and they quickly sent them out to me. i was very happy with their customer service and their prompt attention to my concerns. The side rails that holds the shelves are made of very cheap plastic that keeps moving every time you open one of the drawers which is very annoying. The workmanship and quality of this product is not good. I would not recommend this product to anyone. When I look at other refrigerators on the market, they are made much better than this KitchenAid which surprises me because their other products appear to be very good quality.

This refrigerator is everything I wanted! Love the lower level freezer drawer. It's big and room and the built in ice maker makes tons of ice. The double doors on top are perfect for my small kitchen. Shelves and drawers are easy to adjust exactly the way I wanted. Clear drawers make it say to see what is stored inside. It fits onto the space snugly and is so much more attractive than the one it replaced.

The 30 in. W 20 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator in Black Stainless is beautiful and has a high end appearance. It appears to have been designed to fit into a smaller kitchen. We love the Black Stainless look. It is almost smudge proof and fingerprint resistant. The French door takes up take up less space then a conventional one piece door when opened. The adjustable storage compartments are deep. The doors can be opened independently. The extra lighting and clear glass shelves allow you to see everything at a glance. The shelves are adjustable for height location or for making room for larger items. This refrigerator has three pull out drawers that are clear, which makes it easier to view the contents at a glance. The freezer at the bottom appears to have more usable storage space than our old top mount freezer. It is easy to slide out and has a built in ice maker. The refrigerator has filtered water that is accessible on the inner wall with just a touch of a glass. The water and air filters help to keep the water and ice tasting great and no odors from open containers. Both filters can be easily replaced from inside the refrigerator.
